At just under 5,000 GT, Leviathan becomes Oceanco’s largest yacht by gross tonnage, surpassing the 117-meter Infinity delivered in 2022. The project features a completely redesigned general arrangement that departs from conventional yacht layouts.
Developed for an experienced owner, Leviathan prioritizes crew welfare and operational efficiency. The diesel-electric yacht incorporates systems and materials specifically selected to reduce maintenance requirements and support crew wellbeing.
A key design element is the yacht’s social configuration, which facilitates greater integration between guest and crew areas—reflecting the owner’s operational philosophy.
Naval architecture was developed by Lateral Naval Architects and Oceanco, with interior design by Mark Berryman Design. Lateral Naval Architects has since been fully integrated into Oceanco’s operations.
Construction began in 2020, with the stern section transferred to Oceanco’s Zwijndrecht facility in 2022. The yacht was moved to Alblasserdam for final outfitting in 2023.
Over 2,000 individuals contributed to Leviathan’s construction. Their names have been engraved on a commemorative panel installed in the main staircase.
The build incorporated composite alternatives for traditional elements including polished handrails and painted superstructure sections.
“Leviathan represents a new philosophy of yachting, one that places greater purpose at the heart of design, ownership and operations,” said Deniz de Koningh, Project Director at Oceanco. “The owner’s vision sets a forward-thinking example of how yachts can be built and used with intent.”
Leviathan will commence sea trials in the coming weeks. Performance data and technical specifications will be released following completion of trials.
