Sanlorenzo Unveils the Flagship Yacht Model in the SX Crossover Range

Set to make its world debut at the upcoming Cannes Yachting Festival, the SX120 represents a significant milestone as the first composite yacht to feature Volvo Penta’s revolutionary new Inboard Performance System (IPS). This pioneering propulsion platform, first showcased at boot Düsseldorf 2024, delivers exceptional performance through twin 1,000hp engines per pod, offering the power of larger systems within a more compact configuration.

The yacht’s advanced propulsion system incorporates an intelligent “Eco Mode” function that automatically calibrates engine power based on real-time operational demands. This smart technology optimizes fuel consumption, reduces emissions, and minimizes mechanical wear - addressing the industry’s growing focus on sustainable yachting solutions.

The SX120’s four-deck layout completely reimagines onboard space utilization, featuring a bold displacement of volumes toward the bow and an expansive aft cockpit dedicated to water-based activities. This innovative design philosophy stems from the collaborative expertise of renowned Italian studios Zuccon International Project and Piero Lissoni, who have been instrumental in developing the SX range since the debut of the 26.8-meter SX88 in 2017.

Perhaps the yacht’s most notable feature is its versatile beach area, which features a retractable pool system covered by a sophisticated lift-and-slide sundeck mechanism. This engineering solution ensures optimal sailing conditions while maximizing recreational space. The beach area itself is remarkably adaptable, expanding from 40 to 70 square meters through opening terraces that provide water access on three sides.

Adjacent to this aquatic facility, guests will find a comfortable lounge area and access to the lower deck, which houses crew quarters, a Hammam, and four guest cabins - one of which offers flexible configuration as either additional lounge space or a private cabin.

The main deck centers around a generous saloon dominated by a sculptural wooden staircase with steel cladding. The aft dining area accommodates up to 14 guests, while the forward section is dedicated to a master suite with direct bow access. The interior aesthetic embraces clean, contemporary lines enhanced by distinctive design elements including wooden quills, steel-effect film, and parquet flooring.

Additional highlights include a versatile skylounge that can transform into a dining area, media room, or recreational space, plus a flybridge featuring a modular system that allows for complete customization of the upper deck layout.

“The SX120 is a spectacular floating architecture,” commented Piero Lissoni. “We took all the things the other SXs taught us and put them here. It has beaches, floors that interconnect and big openings. It’s a real floating villa in the body of an absolutely extraordinary project.”

Sanlorenzo CEO Tommaso Vincenzi emphasized the yacht’s significance within the brand’s portfolio: “SX120 represents the natural evolution of a range that has changed the way yachting is conceived, and redefined the experience of living on board - introducing a new idea of space, liveability and connection with the sea.”

Sanlorenzo currently maintains an impressive pipeline of 62 active superyacht projects, including three units from the upcoming Sanlorenzo 74Steel series. The Italian shipyard recently celebrated the delivery of its current flagship, the 40.7-meter Andiamo, earlier this year.

The SX120’s introduction reinforces Sanlorenzo’s position as an innovator in the crossover yacht segment, combining advanced technology with sophisticated design to create vessels that redefine the modern yachting experience.
